Since publishing my essay “In Defence of the Manic Pixie Dream Girl” there have been some confusion about some aspects of the Stale White WonderBread Boy/Manic Pixie Dream Girl dynamic. I would recommend reading that essay first, but it’s not a necessity. I am going to divide this essay into the main sources of confusion. Firstly I will be defining gaze as I think much of the confusion stems from a lack of understanding of gaze as a theory which is the foundation of the theory of the SWWB/MPDG dynamic.
